Team Shaolin Tournament 2010
We were impressed by our first event in 2009 but 2010 proved to be spectacular! With a turn out of over 100 competitors taking part in a total of 140 individual routines it really was an amazing competition.
Over 300 people came to witness one of the best martial arts tournaments of the year and didn’t leave disappointed.
This year we were joined by Shifu Huang Ping from the Dreaming Dragon School who presided as head judge. Shifu Huang Ping comes with a wealth of experience and knowledge in modern Wushu, Chinese martial arts and Tai Chi and in the past has been the head coach for the National teams of Burma and Indonesia. As a head judge in China she was the perfect choice to oversee the event.
The other judges were Shifu Heng Wei, Shifu Heng Xuan, Shifu Heng Sheng, Shifu Yang, Shifu Yan Xiu and Paul Lockyer. As the event is about promoting Chinese Culture through various mediums, we also were delighted to feature a traditional Chinese ribbon dance and of course no celebration would be complete without a lion dance performance.
It really was a great family day out where anyone of any age could take part. With competitors from the age of 3 right through to 60 it showed that martial arts is accessible to everyone. It’s never too late to learn.
Schools competing were:
- Tang Long School (Shifu Heng Wei ) Overall winners for the 2nd year
