Who we are:

TLC4children is a not for profit organisation set up by Shifu Heng Wei, a 35th Generation Master from the Shaolin Temple, China and co founder Karen Forbes, . We are passionate about helping children and our goal is to prevent children growing up in poverty and to give them the chance of a better life.

We strongly believe that all children and young adults have great potential and that given support they can have the opportunity they need to fulfil their goals. The dream of today is the reality of tomorrow.

At TLC4children we believe in giving these children the chance to eat well, feel safe and offer them the chance to complete their education and should they wish go on to further education. We are raising funds to ensure that these children have food, security and the chance to be educated thus giving them hope for a better future.

‘To be able to study well first you need to be able to eat'

With many of China’s children being orphaned by their parent’s dying by either illness or in tragic accidents they end up being looked after by their elderly grandparents. There is little hope of them being able to fulfil their dreams of a better life. China does not have a welfare system so the only option for many of these children and their grandparents is to collect the everyday rubbish that the likes of us would throw away and try to sell this for recycling. For others they have to rely on the kindness of neighbours who are often very poor themselves. Living in the villages offer no frills. There is no running water in the homes, soil floors, and no heating, bare brick walls and often the windows are covered by plastic sheeting. We look to offer support to these families who are trapped under stress in difficult situations.
